Western and Regional Themes During the late teens and early 1920’s the decorative themes of the Ceramics Department began to explore western, frontier, and regional themes, which were more interesting and important to the buying public. All of these pieces were made in molds but there is a difference. The two bison pieces and the Conestoga wagon piece were molds with hand carved design. The designs of the Native American on horseback HCK 9 (Maker: Flora Huckfield) and the cowboy lassoing the horses were carved in the mold when it was poured. (See Case #2-Top)
